As part of the Great Lakes Region Conference, we recognize many people for their service during the past year. We recognized the FY14 Board of Directors including all the Officers for their service throughout the year as part of CSI GLR Annual Meeting on Saturday, Aug 2. We also recognized Committee Chairs for their service. (See attached for complete list) I handed out umbrellas as part of the recognition awards to Officers, Directors, and Committee Chairs with the CSI GLR logo. (Please let me know if you did not receive one.)

On Friday night, as part of the Gala at the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis, we recognized some special award winners. Congratulate them when you have a chance. We are a lucky region to have such dedicated members.

  • Region President's Award: This year's Region President's Award winner is Glen Baines for his help as Chair of the GLR Conference Committee.
  • Special Publication Commendation: This year's Special Publication Commendation winner is David Young for his development and promotion of CSI business cards.

Chapter with less than 100 members - Cleveland +10

Region Awards Guide: The Awards Guide can be found on the GLR website using the following link. It includes all the awards possible at the Region level as well as application forms. http://csigreatlakes.csinet.org/Main-Menu-Category/Committees/Chapter-Awards

Looking forward to many award submissions next year!

On Saturday, we spent some time at round table discussions over concerns from GLR Chapters. We called it the Top Gr8 Lakes Region Concerns. They are as follows: Membership, Future of CSI, Trade Show, Communication, Education/Programs, Leadership, Certification and Emerging Professionals. Please see link for lists of concerns and possible solutions brainstormed by attendees.

Thank you to the CSI Indianapolis Chapter for hosting the GLR Conference and thank you to all the volunteers that helped make everything work smoothly. Interestingly, most of the volunteers were past CSI Indianapolis Chapter Presidents. Continued involvement after such great service is admirable and something I challenge to all GLR chapter past presidents. Find a young member to mentor and challenge them to become involved with CSI. Thank you also to the Indianapolis GLR Conference Committee for all their hard work. This conference inspired many attendees and sent many good ideas back to CSI GLR Chapters.

Last but definitely not least, a very special "Thank You" to the sponsors that helped support the 2014 CSI Great Lakes Region Conference .
